The Teacher Center of Central Westchester (TCCW), a curriculum and professional development center for teachers, was founded in 1984. It provides professional development courses for instructional strategies and best practices, technology training courses, informational workshops, study groups/action research groups, National Board Certification awareness; and graduate credit-bearing courses. Our goal is to support the professional development of our new, as well as our seasoned, teachers and staff. The Center continues to provide a variety of staff development programs and services designed to meet the needs of our ten-district consortium.
The Teacher Center’s principles are based on standards, theory, research, and models of appropriate practice. The Center offers courses, institutes, special events, opportunities to support teacher projects, as well as networking and university partnerships.
Since 1984, The Central Westchester Teacher Institute has been the umbrella organization for The Teacher Center of Central Westchester. It was established to stabilize the Teacher Center in the face of no state funding in 2010-2011 and to guarantee its fiscal and programming health in the near- and long-term future. It is governed by a Policy Board of teachers, administrators, parents, higher education faculty and representatives from the business community.
